J&K: Phone, internet services partially restored ahead Eid

Pratidin Bureau

Phone and internet services have been partially restored in Jammu and Kashmir this morning after five days of restrictions, facilitating the ease of Friday prayers and the upcoming Eid.

However security personnel still remain stationed across the Kashmir Valley to curb any untoward incidents following Centre's decision to end J&K's special status.

Many political leaders, including former Chief Ministers Mehbooba Mufti and Omar Abdullah, remain in custody in a government's attempt to avoid protests or rallies.

it may be noted that Governor Satyapal Malik on Thursday reviewed the situation of the valley and assured that restrictions would be softened for Friday prayers and Eid festival next week.

Because of a communication breakdown, people of the state living in other parts of the country were not able to contact their families.
