FormerFinance Minister Arun Jaitley passed away at the AIIMS today. He was admittedin AIIMS since August 9.

1.Jaitley was appointed Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting(Independent Charge) on 13 October 1999 in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government.

2. Hehad a close relation with Congress leader Shahi Tharoor. Jaitley attendedShashi Tharoor and Sunanda Pushkar's marriage reception party in New Delhi in2010.

3.Jaitley was General Secretary of BJP.

4. Heattended the swearing in ceremony of Narendra Modi as the Chief Minister ofGujarat.

5.Jaitley had a close relation with DMK leaders Aladi Aruna and M Karunanidhi.

6.During his tenure as Finance Minister, the NDA government has launched the GSTsystem and announced the demonetization.

7.Jaitley also had close relation with Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad.

8. Aleader of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), Jaitley became thepresident of the Students Union of Delhi University in 1974.

9.Jaitley became the president of Delhi ABVP and all India secretary of theorganisation in 1977.

10.After the BJP was formed, he was appointed as the president of the youth wingof the party.

11.He was married to Sangeeta Jaitley on 1982. The couple had two children –daughter Sonali Jaitley and son Rohan Jaitley.

12. Arun Jaitley was born on 28 December 1952 in Delhi. His father Maharaj Kishen Jaitley was a lawyer.
