Indo-China : Congress wants PM to Issue Public Apology

Pratidin Bureau

Amidst reports of disengagements by the Indian and Chinese troops from the friction points along the LAC in the Eastern Ladakh region, Congress reportedly wants PM Modi to apologize to the nation for his earlier statement that neither anyone has intruded into India's territory nor has any Indian military posts been captured.

Briefing reporters, Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera today said that PM Modi should admit his mistake for making such an irresponsible statement which was used by the Chinese side to justify their stand.

He added that now that the disengagement process has begun, the PM should also clarify as to by how many kilometers the PLA has moved back, and if any Indian territory is still under Chinese occupation. The spokesperson, therefore, said that either PM or the Defence Minister should inform the countrymen of the ground situation in Eastern Ladakh.

Khera also reportedly praised the Indian Army for its valour and bravery, and added that his party never doubted the Army's ability into forcing the Chinese to withdraw.

Ever since the Indo-China clash at the Galwan Valley began, they were unofficial reports doing the rounds of the Chinese having made intrusions into India's territory. To corroborate such reports, some media houses had reached out to many local Ladakhi people, who confirmed the Chinese intrusion.
