Indian Air Force MiG 27 crashes

An Indian Air Force MiG 27 has crashed near Jodhpur's Banad area in the morning. The plane was completely destroyed however the pilot is reportedly safe. The aircraft had taken off from the IAF's Jodhpur airbase.

According to reports, fire brigades and police are at the site of the crash. The Indian Air Force has issued a statement that the jet was on a routine mission and a Court of Inquiry will be set up to investigate the cause of the crash.

The pilot ejected to safety, defence spokesperson Colonel Sombit Ghosh has said.
