India to celebrate Kargil victory’s 20th anniversary

This year it is the 20th anniversary of India conquering Kargil in 1999. As a mark of celebration, the nation is set to observe the victory with pride, honour and inspiration. The Kargil Vijay Diwas celebrations will be organised as a three-day event starting from 25th to 27th of July at Dras and New Delhi.

Pre-celebrations, including numerous activities, are being planned to be organised all over the country from the first week of July, with the theme being 'Remember, Rejoice and Renew'.

The celebrations in Delhi is slated to begin on July 14. The event will start with the illumination of a Victory Flame from the National War Memorial, New Delhi, which will travel across eleven towns and cities and will finally be culminated at Dras. The flame will then be merged with the eternal flame at the Kargil War Memorial.

According to reports, educational and patriotic talks and interaction with the prominent personalities and students in various educational institutes will be conducted by the torch relay team.

A Wreath Memorial Ceremony will also be organized at the Kargil War Memorial in Dras on the Kargil Vijay Diwas to honour the martyrs who lost their lives during the Operation VIJAY.
