Two militants werekilled on Tuesday in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district in a gunfight betweenthe security forces and holed up militants.

Thetwo militants have been identified as Sayar Ahmad Bhat and Shakir Ahmad Wagayof Awneera. They were associated with Ansar Gazwatul Hind (AGH) militantoutfit.

Theencounter began late on Monday evening.

Thesearch operation is going on.

Itmay be mentioned here that both militants were wanted in various cases.

Policeforces said,"Security forces started a cordon and search operation in Awneeravillage of Shopian district yesterday evening following information about somemilitants hiding there."
