Goa CM Parrikar is dead

Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar  died at his son's home in Panaji on  Sunday eveining. He was 63.

He was in an extremely critical condition and doctors are doing everything save him.

This was announced by the CM office of Goa through Twitter. He was, diagnosed with a pancreatic ailment in February last year.

Last month, he was admitted in the Goa Medical College and Hospital near Panaji. He was discharged on February 26. He was treated in US but there has not been much improvement and BJP was accused of exploiting him despite the falling health.

He returned to work in December after admitting that he was battling a "life-threatening disease", but vowed to work till his last breath.

On January 30, he presented the state budget in the assembly. His frail appearance, with a tube in his nose, drew severe criticism from the opposition.

Meanwhile, the Congress has renewed its bid to come to power in the 40 member Goa assembly. The BJP has 13 and Congress has 14 MLAs. The BJP led government is surviving on the support of the independent MLAs and the Congress now claim that they have the support of the independents.

The BJP fearing trouble rushed in two observers to ensure that nothing untoward happens at Goa during the middle of the General Election.
