Fake calls to HC judges in CJI Gogoi’s voice

Pratidin Bureau

In a shocking incident, an unidentified person dialed two High Court Chief Justices claiming that he was the Chief Justice of India and recommended the names of some advocates for elevation as judges in the HCs.

The calls were made to Karnataka High Court Chief Justice L Narayana Swamy and Telangana High Court Chief Justice Thottathil B Radhakrishnan, claiming to be HK Juneja, personal private secretary to CJI Gogoi.

A complaint has been lodged at the Tilak Marg police station in this regard after the fraud came to light during a conversation between CJI Ranjan Gogoi and the two High Court Chief Justices.

Meanwhile, an internal probe has also been ordered by CJI Ranjan Gogoi. Further, the CJI has issued an advisory to Chief Justices and judges of High Courts not to entertain any calls either in his name or that of his office.
