Delhi Court Orders Release of Devangana Kalita, Natasha Narwal and Asif Iqbal Tanha

Pratidin Bureau

Delhi Court ordered Pinjra Tod Activist Devangana Kalita, Natasha Narwal and Jamia Milia student Asif Iqbal Tanha to be released immediately on Thursday.

Narwal, Kalita and Tanha were arrested in May last year under the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) after their protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act

The three student activists were not released from the jail on time citing a reason that there is a lack of verification details of their addresses and sureties.

According to PTI, the trio is accused of being the "masterminds" of the February 2020 violence, which had left 53 people dead and and more than 200 injured.
