DCW Takes Suo Moto Stance On Heinous Threats To Kohli’s Daughter

The Delhi Police were on Tuesday served a notice from the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) over the heinous online threats to Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma's daughter. Indian Cricket team captain Virat Kohli and Bollywood actor Anushka Sharma's nine month old daughter reportedly received online threats following India's loss to New Zealand in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup.

Swati Maliwal, Chairperson of DCW said in a tweet today that the way the nine month old girl was threatened on Twitter was "very shameful". She said, "The team has made us proud thousands of times, why this silliness in defeat". She further urged the Police to share information regarding the investigation in the case.

The DCW has sought the copy of FIR, along with details of identified accused, arrests made and a 'detailed action taken report' in the incident. The notice that was sent, read, "If no accused has been arrested, please provide the details of steps taken by Delhi Police to arrest the accused".

The police have been asked to provide the information by November 8.

Virat Kohli had earlier took a stand on the incessant trolling of team mate and Indian Cricket team bowler Mohammed Shami after the loss to Pakistan. Since then, India has lost to New Zealand, after which online threats against his daughter started appearing on social media.
