BSP breaks up alliance with SP

Pratidin Bureau

The alliance between Mayawati-led Bahujan Samaj Party(BSP) and Akhilesh Yadav's Samajwadi Party (SP) in Uttar Pradesh is on theverge of an end as the BSP chief announced that her party will contest theupcoming assembly by-elections in the State alone.

Blaming Akhilesh's SP over the recent Lok Sabha elections results, the BSP chief said, "SP had dialed to get their supporters' vote in the LS polls." Further she added, "The base vote of SP, the 'Yadav' community, didn't support the part in the LS Polls; even strong contenders of SP were defeated."

However, she maintained that the break is temporary. "It is not a permanent break. If we feel in future that Akhilesh Yadav succeeds in his political work, we'll again work together. But if he doesn't succeed, it'll be good for us to work separately," Mayawati said.
