2% DA hike for central government employees

Central government brought cheer to around 50 lakh employees of the nation by increasing 2 per cent dearness allowance under seventh pay commission. Now, employees under 7th CPC will get 9 per cent DA in their salary. The proposal has been approved in a cabinet meeting on Wednesday. Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said that DA has been calculated based on employee's basic salary.

The new DA will be implemented from July 1, 2018.

Modi also assured that both the teaching and non-teaching staff would get the revised pay as per the recommendations of the 7th pay commission.

At present, the Central government employees are getting basic pay according to the fitment formula of 2.57 of the basic pay. Employees are demanding the minimum pay hike of Rs 26,000 instead of Rs 18,000, what seventh pay commission has recommended.
