2 Cops martyred, 8 Maoists Shot Dead In Chhattisgarh

In Chhattisgarh, eight Maoists were killed and two security personnel martyred in an encounter in Sukma district on Monday.

The gunbattle took place at a forest in Kistaram area bordering Telangana, around 500 km from Raipur, when a team of security personnel was out on an anti-Naxal operation,told  Sukma's Superintendent of Police Abhishek Meena.

Security forces retaliated the fire and eight Maoists were killed. Two jawans of DRG were also martyred in the encounter.

Security forces recovered the bodies of the rebels along with a large number of weapons from the spot.

Reinforcements have been rushed to the spot, and further details were awaited as the encounter was still underway, added Abhishek Meena.
