Zubeen slams ULFA in long FB post

Pratidin Bureau

After ULFA commander-in-chief Paresh Barua questioned Assam's singing sensation Zubeen Garg's patriotism over his criticism towards the outfit, the latter today in Facebook slammed the group with a long post.

Taking to his official Facebook page, Zubeen said, "I need a revolution. I need a revolution of change. Killing innocent people will not result in anything fruitful. Fear cannot build a nation. Labour can. Hard work can."

Condemning the militant outfit's violent actions, the singer scribed, "Teach our kids how to cultivate. Teach them how to grow seeds out of nothing. Teach them how to shape their dreams. If you want to build something, build Majuli! If you want to destroy something, destroy the threats roaming over Kaziranga!"

"Freedom is all about standing on your own. You cannot be free in fear. Chaos can bring no change. We are a nation because of the people. If there is no one left alive, where do we stand?", he added.

Making his stand clear, Zubeen said, "I am a messenger of peace and labour. Let us work, let us dream, let us touch a sky that is wide and clear! Let our kids grow in peace, let us live. There is no justice after death."

Earlier, while speaking to a audience during his musical performance in Tihu, Zubeen said, "I do not support any kind of terrorism. I have a good relation with Paresh Barua. He has considered my wife Garima Saikia Garg as his sister, but I don't care." Speaking about the arrest of Assamese actress Jahnabi Saikia in connection with the blast, Zubeen further said, "I know Jahnabi. It is very shameful that artists are involved in such kind of activities."

He also slammed the ULFA the same night saying, "Due to ULFA's violence, the cinema halls in Assam had shut down. Moreover, ULFA has stood as a barrier in the development of our State."
