Youth attempts suicide; rescued afloat, alive in Brahmaputra

A youth has been rescued by a boatman in Barpeta's Bohori afloat the Brahmaputra.

The youth has been identified as Lakshman Swargiary, a resident of Dhulabari in Rangiya,

Accordingto reports, Swargiary attempted to end his life at night by jumping off fromthe Saraighat Bridge. However, he had rescued in the morning from the river inBohori.

The youthwas afloat amid banana plant and water-hyacinth, seeing a boat, Swargiaryvoiced for help.

Swargiarywas rescued by the boatman Kalachand Ali.

Meanwhile,Jalukbari police has recovered his belongings such as his bike and importantdocuments on the Saraighat Bridge.
