After fake news on NRC, a woman from 1 no. Dulabari in Tezpur jumped into a well as she read her name was not on the final list. Assam police had earlier appealed to the people to not spread rumours for fear of panic.

The woman was identified as Sayera Begum. 

Do not believe in rumour or fake news. The applicants who do not find their names in the NRC will get another opportunity by way of Foreigners' tribunal for inclusion in NRC.
