Woman dies after allegedly being set on fire by in-laws, husband

A woman was allegedly burnt to death by her husband and in-laws in Barpeta district's Sarbhog as she failed to bring more dowry.

Amiya Begum, who was severely burnt on Nov 3 by her husband and in-law, was admitted at Guwahati  Medical College & Hospital (GMCH), where she breathed her last on Saturday, Nov 10.

Police arrested Jakir Hussain, the deceased woman's husband, and mother-in-law based on Amiya's father's complaint.

Amiya's   family members claimed her in-laws used to torture her and demanded them dowry.

The incident has sent shock waves in the locality as her neighbors demanded stern action against her in-laws and husband.
