Accusing Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal of indulging in communal politics, former Assam CM and senior Congress leader Tarun Gogoi on Saturday said that the Assam Congress will register a complaint against Sonowal with the Election Commission (EC).
Notably, CM Sonowal had asked the voters in Laharighat on Tuesday to take an oath in the name of Allah and vote for the BJP. Reacting to Sonowal's remark, Gogoi said, "This is a complete violation of the model code of conduct (MCC). We will register a complaint against the Chief Minister with the EC on this issue."
Gogoi further said that in 2014 elections, Modi had his 'Joi Jatra' but in 2019, it will be his 'Shasan Jatra'.
The senior Congress leader also attacked BJP's Gauhati Lok Sabha seat candidate, Queen Oja and said, "She is not even qualified to contest Zila Parishad elections as per new law of the BJP government in the State, how could she represent an honourable constituency of Assam?"
Gogoi also slammed Assam Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and said that the Minister was involved in Sarada scam, Louis Berger scam and Manabendra Sarma murder case.
