Wild Elephant Hit by Train in Assam's Lakhimpur, Dies

A wild elephant was tragically killed after being hit by a train near Mainajuli area in Assam’s Lakhimpur district.

According to Lakhimpur DFO, the elephant was hit by Train No. 15907 Upper Tinsukia-Naharlagun Express, at the 4/8 to 5/8 mileage point near the Mainajuli area within the Lakhimpur (T) Division.

The incident occurred at around 6:50 pm on October 22, 2024, official reports said.

A case has been filed to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
