Awild elephant on Tuesday strayed from Amchang Wildlife Sanctuary into the GSroad in Guwahati, which created panic among the people in the city.

Asthe elephant walked between the vehicles over the GS road up to ABC point, ahuge traffic and crowd followed him. The elephant held up vehicles for aroundan hour in the city.

The concerned authorities tried to block the movement of the elephant by putting barricades near Rajiv Bhawan in ABC, but the elephant broke the barricades and headed towards Sri Nagar area in the city.

Meanwhile, the forest department officials are trying to tranquilize the elephant.
