Unusual rise in the price of potatoes in city

Newly appointed minister Phanibhushan Choudhury's orders to not increase prices of potato-onion has been kept at bay as sellers set the prices of potatoes high on Thursday.

Guwahati's Fancy Bazar, Kacharighat, Uzan Bazar and Beltola Bazar among others were found with high potato prices.

Various varieties such as, Rs 15 Bengal variety soared to Rs 22 and Rs 20 Agra variety soared to Rs 25. Whereas on the other hand, per kg of Shillong's variety rose to Rs 35-40.

These rising prices has become a serious matter of concern for the residents of Guwahati.
