Union Cabinet Passes CAB

Amid protests in Assam and other Northeastern states, the Union Cabinet has passed the contentious Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) on Wednesday and will place the bill in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha on 9 and 10 December respectively.

The Cabinetmeeting was going on at New Delhi under the Chairmanship of Prime MinisterNarendra Modi.

Accordingto reports, the Union Minister is likely to introduce the contentious CAB inthe Rajya Sabha on December 10. Also, the bill will be introduced in the LokSabha on December 9.

It mayalso be mentioned that the home minister had conducted a meeting with AASU,AJYCP and other organizations on Tuesday till late night and after meeting AmitShah, the organizations made it clear that they won't accept CAB in anycircumstances.
