Ugratara Temple To Get New Idol On May 2

Five months after an idol was stolen from the ancient Ugratara temple in Uzan Bazaar here, the temple is likely to get a new idol on May 2. The centuries-old original idol was stolen from the temple on the night of November 15, and the police are still clueless about it.

The new idol to be installed during the upcoming Ugratara Mahotsav – which is an annual function organized by temple management committee.

The Ugratara Devalaya is situated in the heart of the Guwahati city, in the Uzan Bazar area. It attracts large number of pilgrims every year. The 'Navaratri' is the most celebrated holy festival in this temple every year.
