Tripura CM Distributes Sugar Through PDS

The TripuraGovernment launched a new programme on Thursday to distribute sugar throughPublic Distribution System (PDS) at an event in Agartala town hall.

TripuraChief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb distributed packets of sugar to consumers ofration shops as part of the state government's bid to give sugar to consumers offair price shops in order to provide relief to poorer sections of people.

While distributingthe packets of sugar, Deb commended the work of the Department of Food, CivilSupply and Consumer affairs and said that in the last 14-15 months, the Tripuragovernment is now among the top five states in PDS system in India.

Deb alsocriticized the previous Left Front government by saying that the thengovernment never wanted anything to work systematically but when people of thestate in 2014 saw the work of PM Modi, who introduced various digitalinitiatives which brought transparency they got inspired.

The ChiefMinister also said that his predecessor who was the chief minister of the statefor four consecutive terms (referring to Manik Sarkar without naming) projectedhimself as Mr. Clean but if it was so, how during the ePDS and computerizationof fair price shops, 63000 bogus ration cards were found in the state who isresponsible for it?
