Three women were knocked down and several others injured in a road accident at Rangagora in Tinsukia district on the day of Mahalaya on Saturday.

The three women have been hit by a speeding Innova car bearingnumber AS03H 2223. The deceased have been identified as Ritumoni Gohain, PriyaGohain (both mother and daughter) and Numali Baruah.

According to the report, the Innova, at first hit a bike after which it ran over six pedestrians including traffic police officials.

After the incident, the locals thrashed the driver of the car,Gaurav Dey who sustained serious injury.

However, it has been said that the injured have been rushed tothe hospital in serious condition.
