Pratidin Bureau

Guwahati on Sunday witnessed a new uprising as youths of the city took to the streets to protest against the inhumane mob lynching incident of Karbi Anglong where two boys were brutally killed.

Surprisingly, the protesters did not belong to any political party or any other organization this time but came out in numbers near Guwahati Commerce College in the name of humanity seeking justice for the unfortunate youths, Abhijeet Nath and Nilotpal Das.

The protesters demanded speedy justice and strictest of punishment for the culprits. They also urged Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal to personally look into the matter and expedite the investigation process.

However, after almost 3 hours of peaceful protest, police and the protesters indulged in a clash unfortunately. Police lathi charged at the crowd as stones and bottles were pelted on the police.

The situation also got out of hand following the protester's denial to disperse from the area as whole of the RG Road was blocked for more than 3 hours and created traffic ruckus across the city.
