Third party agency to study Assam Tea Industry problems

In a latest development, the Assam Government has decided upon to appoint a third party agency to study the problems of the tea industry.

Briefing the media, Assam Industry and Commerce Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary said that the third party agency would be responsible for finding out the reasons behind why Assam tea is unable to compete in the international market. 

patowary proposed that the agency could be a management institute or any other top agency and stated that it was high time the industry moved away from Crush-Tear-Curl (CTC) style tea and venture into teas like green and yellow tea. 

The minister also said that the Assam Government would set up a sub-committee to look into various problems of the tea industry. Our Correspondent reports, that Assam is known as one of the highest and quality tea producing state of the world.
