Talks with CM failed: Members of six communities

Pratidin Bureau

The members of six communities and Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Thursday evening held detailed discussions on the issue of granting ST status the communities.

However, the members of the communities expressed their unhappiness over the discussion and informed media that CM reiterated his promise on giving ST status the communities rather than taking any concrete step.

They also informed that if the Central government does not provide the ST status to them within January 31, they will launch mass agitation against the government. The six communities include Koch Rajbongshi, Tai Ahom, Chutiya, Matak, Moran and the tea tribes of the State.
