Swahid Divas Observed at Gohpur

The Gohpur Mohkuma Students' Union has observed Swahid Divas on Friday at Chaiduar College, Gohpur in the memory of Martyr Kanaklata Barua and Mukunda Kakati.

A cultural procession has been taken out to pay tributes to the 1942Quit India Movement martyrs.

On the other hand, the Akhil Bharati Vidyarthi Parishad has also takenout a Triranga Yatra by taking 100 meter National Flag to observe Swahid Divasin the name of Matryr Kanaklata Barua and Mukunda Kakati in Gohpur.   

Kanaklata Barua also called Birbala and Shaheed (martyr) Kanaklata Barua was an Indian freedom fighter and AISF leader from Assam who was shot dead while leading a procession bearing the National Flag during the Quit India Movement of 1942.

Kanaklata was born in the Borangabari village of the undivided Darrang district of Assam as the daughter of Krishna Kanta and Karneshwari Barua. Her grandfather Ghana Kanta Barua was a famous hunter in Darrang.
