Stop animal sacrifice, says Zubeen Garg

Pratidin Bureau

Those residing in Nilachal Hill, where Kamakhya temple is located witnessed Zubeen Garg being Zubeen Garg on Monday night during a musical event. The sensational singer's few statements at the programme had stirred controversy.

Zubeen advocating against the practice of sacrificing animals as a ritual said, "Stop animal sacrifice".

Speaking on Bollywood actor Govinda's visit to Kamakhya to offer sacrifice to the Goddess, Garg said, "Instead of sacrificing animals, Govinda should have offered himself". "Maa Kamakhya never seeks sacrifice", he added.

Garg has also made comments on Brahmans and the holy thread that marks their identity.

However, a section of priests at the temple do not completely agree with the views expressed by Garg.
