SMSS stages massive protest against education department

Pratidin Bureau

The Satra Mukti Sangram Samiti (SMSS) on Saturday staged massive protest in front of the Directorate of Higher Education in Kahilipara, Guwahati condemning government's decision on releasing the contractual college teachers from their posts with effect from March 31.

The SMSS protesters also demanded the government to appoint college teachers at the vacant posts in different government colleges across Assam. "Government has not created any teachers' posts in the colleges and we demand the Sarbananda Sonowal-led BJP government to create enough posts in colleges and regularize the posts of current teachers," said a protester.

Meanwhile, they also asked the government to immediately release the funds that have been sanctioned to the colleges for free admission of the students.
