Siang turns turbid again; linked to local factors

Pratidin Bureau

Siang River's water has once again turned turbid which has raised concerns not only in Arunachal Pradesh but Assam as well. But in a turn of events, according to sources, this time the turbidity may be linked with the obstructions created by some landslide in the upstream Arunachal Pradesh and not in China.

Reportedly, incidents of landslide has obstructed the flow of the river in Arunachal Pradesh. it has been around three days that the change in the water r quality of the river has been observed. However, there is no abrupt change in the water level of the river in the downstream areas.

Sources maintained that so far there is nothing to be concerned over the water level of the river, adding that the State's Water Resources Department (WRD) is in constant touch with the Central Water Commission (CWC) on the matters related to the water level, water quality, etc., of the river.

On the other hand, the turbidity of the Siang water has also been found decreasing, as per reports.
