Seaplane from Guwahati to Shillong soon

With an objective to boost tourism in the Northeastern region, the Union Civil Aviation Ministry has agreed to launch a seaplane service between Brahmaputra river in Guwahati to Umiam river near Shillong in Meghalaya, suggested reports.

Talking to media, Shillong MP Vincent H Pala said that he had put it across to the Civil Aviation Minister and they had discussed at length, to which the Minister agreed.

Notably, the Civil Aviation Ministry has earlier approved a proposal for setting up of water aerodromes in the country and identified in Odisha, Gujarat, Assam, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh where the water aerodromes would be developed.
