SC orders transfer of Prateek Hajela

The SupremeCourt on Friday ordered the transfer of Assam State coordinator of the NationalRegister of Citizens (NRC), Prateek Hajela, to Madhya Pradesh.

However,when asked by attorney general KK Venugopal, the Chief Justice of India, RanjanGogoi, refused to give the reason for the order. "An order can be passedwithout any reason or cause," the CJI said.

The SCbench, headed by CJI directed the Centre to 'forthwith' transfer Hajela and askedthe government to notify the transfer within seven days.
