Sanaullah Case: Gaurav Gogoi Seeks Amit Shah’s Intervention

Pratidin Bureau

Gaurav Gogoi, the Congress Lok Sabha MP from Koliabor in Assam, has written a letter to Home Minister Amit Shah seeking his intervention in the detention of retired Army officer Mohammad Sanaullah.

"Sanaullah was in service during the Kargil War. In 2014, the President of India gave him a medal. But now he has been kept in a detention camp. Injustice has been done to him. I request Amit Shah to take cognizance of this matter and help provide justice to Sanaullah and his family," the MP said.

"If more such reports will come out, then people will lose trust in NRC. Will Sanaullah give 30 years of his life to the Army if he is an outsider?" Gaurav Gogoi further asked.

It may be mentioned here that Sanaullah's family has alleged that the retired Army officer has fallen into a trap of conspiracy.

Mohammad Sanaullah retired as an honorary Lieutenant in the Army and was arrested soon after the Assam Police Border Organisation in Guwahati summoned him on May 28.
