Rape Accused IIT-G Student Denied Bail By Gauhati HC

A student of the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT-G), who was arrested for allegedly raping a classmate, has been denied bail by Gauhati High Court on Tuesday.

The accused, Utsav Kadam, is a student of the department of Chemistry and hails from Mumbai. He was arrested on March 28 for raping a classmate during a cultural event as part of Holi celebrations.

Kadam is currently lodged in a jail in Guwahati.

A case (53/21) under section 376 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered at Amingaon police station against Kadam.

According to sources, several other accused are still at large and police are on the hunt for them.
