Public Stages Road Blockade in Amingaon

The commuters in Amingaon has staged road blockade in protest against non-receipt of pollution certificate. The agitated public expressed anger over shutting down the pollution testing centers as they have not received the certificates.

People have to stand in queue for hours to get the certificate, but still, they don't receive the certificates, and they become restless after a certain time and become aggressive on the issue after which they staged the road blockade.

It may be mentioned that Commissionerof Transport, Assam Virendra Mittal (IAS) on Saturday directed the DTOs in thestate to monitor the issuing process of pollution under check (PUC)certificates as the centers are issuing the certificates without anyverification.

The situation in Amingaon has beenbrought under control by Amingaon police. The people are being harassed with thenew Motor Vehicle (Amendment) Act and it was after the implementation of theact that there is a rush in the pollution centers to get the pollutioncertificates as the people have to pay a fine of Rs. 5000-10,000 if they ride avehicle without having the certificate.
