Silchar: Priyanka Gandhi alleges BJP of disrespecting Constitution

Pratidin Bureau

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra alleged the BJP of disrespecting the Indian Constitution and making an attempt of destroying it by the current exemptions.

Priyanka also alleged Prime Minister Narendra Modi of spending less time in his constituency in Varanasi, being busy touring the world.

On sunday, the Congress leader held a roadshow in Silchar to campaign for Congress candidate Sushmita Dev, during which she urged people to defeat the BJP-led government, adding that the government does not listen to people's opinion, does not try to understand their problems and only wants to enjoy power.

The Congress' general secretary also criticised the NDA government for its "flawed policies and intentions" in the last five years citing instances such as the withdrawal of the Special Status to Assam, snapping of the north east-specific industrial policy and suspension of two paper mills in the state.

Gandhi also urged the people of Silchar to go through the party manifestos carefully before deciding on their votes.
