Prime Accused of Uggratara Devalaya Idol Theft Case Escaped

The prime accused of Uggratara Devalaya idol theft case, AzizulAli escaped from Latasil Police custody on Saturday.

Ali who hails from Barama in Assam's Baksa district was arrestedon June 19.

According to reports, Ali absconded from the police custodywhile he was taken to his resident in Juripar in the city for investigationpurpose.

The idol of Uggratara Develaya was stolen on November last year and the idol was recovered from Chamata in Nalbari district on May 1 by Golaghat police, nearly four and a half months after it was being stolen. On May 2, Guwahati police handed over the idol to Uggratara temple management committee.
