The Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday made it clear that the government is going to pass the much debated Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 on the ongoing session of the parliament. While addressing a huge gathering at Silchar in Barak Valley, the PM said, "Our government is also working to get the Citizen Amendment Bill passed in the Parliament."

The PM further said that no Indian citizen would be left out of the National Register of Citizens (NRC). "I know you've faced problems, but the programme which was stuck from decades will finally reach its conclusion," said Modi, adding, "I want to assure you that none of you who is a citizen will be left out."

PM Modi said the Centre's move to pass the CAB was meant for making amendment to a huge blunder committed during the partition. The Bill, which saw massive protest in Assam, intends to grant citizenship to people from minority communities including Hindu Bengalis from Bangladesh.

PM Modi also said, "The Central government has decided to implement the clause six of the Assam Accord, which was stuck from the past 30-35 years."
