Over 13 lakh soil health cards distributed in Assam so far: state Agriculture Director

Assam Agriculture Director MS Manivannan, while participating in a talk show on AIR, informed that Assam Government has distributed over 13 lakh soil health cards so far. 2.84 lakh soil samples have also been tested in the state, he added.

He also said that one lakh shallow tube wells shall be distributed in subsidised rate to farmers across the state in a bid to double their income.

"CM Sarbananda Sonowal has initiated steps to make Majuli an organic district of the state. Five crore rupees have been sanctioned for the same" Manivannan informed.

He further said that 28 percent growth has been registered last year in paddy production and 25 percent in oil seeds.
