ONGC’s Drinking Water Project inaugurated at Sivasagar

Continuing its endeavour as a responsible corporate citizen and a committed partner in the progress of the state, ONGC inaugurates a Drinking Water Project at Dhitaipukhuri High School under CSR.

Executive Director & Asset Manager, ONGC, Assam Asset, Mr. Sanjeev Kakran while inaugurating the project at Dhitaipukhuri emphasized that ONGC has a strong and special emotional connect with the people of Assam and it is always committed for the development of the State. The ED further added that ONGC is giving focused attention to empowering people through CSR projects and ONGC seeks to work with local people as a team for the development of the region. 

Addressing the students, teachers and parents assembled on the occasion, Mr Kakran underlined that future of the Nation depends on the students and we all have to come forward to provide the right platform for growth & development imparting value education.

Mr. Kakran personally interacted with the students andteachers of Dhitaipukhuri High School about various facilities available in theschool and how ONGC can supplement further infrastructural development of theschool. He announced financial support of Rs.20,000/- for purchasing musicalinstruments for the students and assured to extend support towards the existingcomputer lab of the school for the benefit of the students.

Providing clean & safe drinking water in schools, in and around ONGC's operational area, is a CSR initiative by ONGC Assam Asset. The project at Dhitaipukhuri High School is implemented by ONGC's All India OBC & MOBC Employees Welfare Association. It may be mentioned that during the last two years ONGC's School Drinking Water Project benefitted more than 15,000 School Children in Sivasagar and Charaideo districts.

ONGC's Drinking Water Project was highly appreciated by the students, teachers, school management, parents and the local people. School Management, Principal, Teachers and Students of the schools expressed that many students would often fall sick due to water-borne diseases, which not only affects personal health but academic performance too. Thus ONGC's initiative to provide clean drinking water would improve the personal health of the students and teachers, reduce absenteeism, fostering overall academic performance of the schools.
