NSUI slams CM over coal syndicate

The National Students' Union of India (NSUI) on Tuesdayslammed Assam Chief Minister over the coal syndicate that has been going on inthe State for a long time. Addressing the media in Guwahati, members of AssamNSUI termed CM Sonowal as Coal Mafia Sonowal.

"There are more than 200 trucks waiting to enterAssam, but we will not let that happen," said a member of NSUI.

They alleged CM Sonowal's direct link to the coal syndicate and said that CM Sonowal often talks about zero corruption and a syndicate-free state but in fact, the scene is to the contrary.

The members of NSUI further alleged Silchar BJP chiefKaushikRai to be the kingpin of coal syndicate in the State. "Rai and his men collectaround Rs. 60,000 from each of the truck," they alleged.

It may be mentioned here that earlier, Congress MPPradyut Bordoloi claimed that 4,000-5,000 rat-hole coal mines have sprung up inthe State in the last three years and that too in 11 reserved forests and awildlife sanctuary.
