NRL Workers’ Union Stages Protest Against Privatization

Pratidin Bureau

The workers union, petroleum mazdoor union, and drivers association have staged a protest on Saturday in front of Numaligarh Refinery Marketing Terminal against the privatization of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL).

The protestors demanded that the central government should withdraw the decision of the privatization of BPCL. The protestors said that once the BPCL will be privatized, the Numaligarh Refinery will automatically go into the hands of private organizations. Therefore, they demanded to cancel the privatization of the company immediately or else they will stage massive protests in the near future.

The protestors also claim that they have come to know that the Centre has decided to hand over the BPCL to the private companies of Netherland, Saudi Arabia, and India's Reliance group.

They also said that they have observed the day as Black Day by wearing a black badge.
