NPP may snap ties with NDA

Pratidin Bureau

In a massive political development, Meghalaya CM Conrad K Sangma on Tuesday said that as the president of National People's Party (NPP), he has intended to take a call on the growing demands to break ties with the NDA government.

Expressing his views on controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill issue, Sangma said that "It is very unfortunate that this bill has been passed in Lok Sabha. We have strongly opposed the bill"

NPP has called the party leaders and representatives to decide on the matter and the final decision would be taken in the meeting.

The senior NPP leader's comments came just hours after the Lok Sabha passed the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2019.

Earlier, the Meghalaya government had reiterated its stand to oppose the Bill.
