Noted litterateur Purabi Bormudoi no more

Renowned litterateurPurabi Bormudoi breathed her last this morning at GMCH after suffering for along time. Assam has incurred an irreplaceable loss with the writer's passingaway.

The author's last rites will be performed at the Navagraha Crematorium today.

The Assamese novelist and short story writer was born in Tezpur's Deori Village on May 08, 1950, to father Chandranath Tamuli and mother Padma Tamuli. She married educationist-critic Ananda Bormudoi in 1975.

Thenovelist, has also been awarded with the prestigious Sahitya Akademi in 2007for her novel Santanukulanandan. Some of her other achievements are:

  • 2012-Assam Valley Literary Award
