Pratidin Bureau

Even after 24 hours of their drowning, there has been no trace of the two young girls who fell into Disang river at Desangmukh of eastern Assam's Sivasagar district on Sunday.

Earlier on Sunday, the two higher secondary girls named as Ajali Chetri and Purnima Chetri of Philobari Tinsukia slipped from a rock  and fell into Disang river while they were allegedly taking selfies after completing the immersion rituals of Satyanarayan Puja. The incident occurred at around 10 am on Sunday.

A team of the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) resumed their rescue operations on Monday morning in search of the missing duo.

The police and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) suspended the search operation on Sunday evening because of darkness.
