No arrangement made to declare BTAD as UTC: AB Mathur

The interlocutor of Bodo Peace Talks, AB Mathur confirmed that there were no arrangements have been made yet to declare Bodoland Territorial Area Districts (BTAD) as a Union Territorial Council (UTC).

Pallab Bhattacharyya, Assam Police Director General Civil Defence & Commandant General Home Guards and I/C Special Branch contacted Interlocutor of peace talks AB Mathur on Saturday and Mathur clearly expressed that no such arrangements have been made for Unilateral Declaration of UTC for BTAD as pointed out in some sections of newspapers.

Pallab Bhattacharyya contacted Mathur in view of the Assam Bandh, called by various organisations like Koch Rajbongshi Sanmilani, Aboro Suraksha Samiti, All Koch Rajbongshi Students Union (AKRSU) on November 19 in protest against Unilateral Declaration of Union Territorial Council for BTAD.

In a press statement, Assam Police has also requested the concerned organizations to withdraw the Assam Band called by them.
