NIA files chargesheet in Zoo Road blast case

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday filed acharge sheet in NIA Special Court in Guwahati against the accused in a casepertaining to the attack on security personnel on duty at RG Baruah Road atGuwahati, on 15.05.2019 by lobbing a grenade.

This led to injuries to 12 persons in which several personswere grievously injured.

Investigation revealed that Bijoy Asom was the ULFA (I) terrorist who lobbed the grenade. In this terrorist act, he was assisted by Chinmoy Lahkar. Chinmoy Lahkar was riding a motorcycle and Bijoy Asom was riding pillion with Chinmoy Lahkar, when Bijoy Asom lobbed the grenade on the security personnel on 15.05.2019. Jahnabee Saikia had provided transportation and shelter to Bijoy Asom and was also actively involved in unlawful activities. Jahnabee Saikia was also involved in the conspiracy to commit terrorist acts and she had also concealed arms, ammunition, and explosive substances in her rented house. Pranmay Rajguru and Sanjib Talukdar were involved in the conspiracy, unlawful activities and in providing help and support to Bijoy Asom in committing the terrorist act. Pranmay Rajguru was also in joint possession of arms, ammunition and explosive substances along with Bijoy Asom and Jahnabee Saikia. Indra Mohan Bora has provided shelter and support to Bijoy Asom. Indra Mohan Bora is also closely associated with ULFA (I) and provided support to ULFA (I) in committing terrorist acts and other unlawful activities.  Amrit Ballav Goswami and Prakash Rajkonwar were involved in the conspiracy of ULFA (I) to create an independent country of Assam. They were directly associated with ULFA (I) and provided support to ULFA (I) for committing terrorist acts and other unlawful activities. 

Accused persons have been charged for conspiracy andindulging in terrorist acts and unlawful activities, waging war against India,conspiracy to wage war against India, illegal possession of arms andammunition, illegal possession and use of explosive substances, harbouring ofULFA (I) terrorist, providing support to ULFA (I) terrorists and associatingwith ULFA (I) terrorists.

​Further investigation against other accused personscontinues : NIA said in a statement.
