NCC Sailing Expedition on Brahmaputra

The first-ever Brahmaputra Sailing Expedition culminated successfully on Friday with the flagging in a ceremony at Pandu port in Guwahati, attended by Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal.

The Sailing expedition has covered over 220 km distance commencing with the Flag Off at Biswanath Chariali on 16 Oct 2019 and Flagging In at Pandu Port, Guwahati on 25 Oct 2019.

As many as 60 NCC Cadets of the state braved the waters of the Brahmaputra over the grueling journey.

During the course of the journey, the cadets negotiated over the water where the valiant general of the Ahom kingdom Lachit Borphukan had defeated the invading Mughal navy in 1671.

The expedition touched the riverine areas of Tezpur, Silghat, Singri, Palaguri, Kurua and Amingaon and utilized this opportunity to spread awareness to the local populace.
